Jose B. Alves, 70, passed on May 22nd surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Isaura (Pina) Alves.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, a son of the late Arlindo Alves and Constanca B. Pina.
He had been employed by Brown University as the lead baker for 35 years.
Jose was an Army Veteran and served over 25 years in the Reserve.
He was also a member of the Portuguese Sporting Club, Providence. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Adenario Alves (Charmaine), Joe Alves (Domingas), Gevanni Alves, and a daughter, Gelissa Alves, two grandchildren, Ariana Alves and Devandro Rodrigues, siblings, Henrique DeBarros (Anita), Aristides DeBarros (Laura), Matilde Andrade (Jose) and Ilda Pina-Lopes (Olavo), two aunts, Antonia Fortes and Arminda Santos and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday, May 30th at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, High Street, Pawtucket at 10am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5pm until 8pm.
